Food & Drink

Do I need to reserve a table for dinner in the bistro?

We strongly recommend that you do, as soon as you book, as we are only a small bistro and we do get booked up in advance with non-residents. You can do that here.

What are the opening hours in the bistro?

Our kitchen hours are Monday to Friday from 4:00pm to 8.45pm, Saturday & Sunday from 3pm to 8.45pm. Breakfast is 8am to 9:15am.

Can we book a table in the bistro for 7 people or over?

We do accept bookings of up to 14 people. This cannot be booked through our website, instead please call us or drop us an email and we will see if we can accommodate you. Bookings of 7 or more people require a deposit of £15 per person.

Do you cater for vegetarian or special diets?

Yes we do, Please see our current menu, where vegetarian (V), Gluten Free (GF) and Dairy Free (DF) are clearly labelled. Let us know your dietary requirements upon booking and we shall accommodate them as much as possible.

Is there a dress code in the bistro?

Not at all, we are very relaxed, as long as you have some clothes on….

Is breakfast included in the room price?

No – it is a room only price. We run an A la Carte breakfast menu, have a look at our menu here, which gives you flexibility on what you would like to eat at breakfast.

Do you provide packed lunches?

Yes we do, for a small charge.

Can you provide flowers, fizz, wine etc in my room on arrival?

Yes we can. These can be chosen as extras upon booking. Please ask for more information. Have a look at our wine list here.

Can we bring our own alcohol and/or takeaways into the hotel?

Unfortunately not, as we have a fully licensed Bistro in the hotel.

Parking & Vehicles

Do you have a carpark?

Yes, we have a small car park for farm residents and bistro guests. There is 1 allocated space per accommodation (except the Woolloft which has 2).  An additional space can be pre booked for a small fee. We cannot however, guarantee parking spaces for hotel guests or bistro guests.

Can we park our car in the carpark and go for a walk before or after we dine with you?

Unfortunately not, as we only have a small car park.

As residents, can we leave our car before or after we have checked in or out?

Sometimes this can be possible but please check with us first.

Can I charge my electric car on site?

Yes, we now have a 3.6 kWh car charging facility on site, that uses tokens. These can be purchased from our bistro. There is also a fast charging service in nearby Ambleside. Please refrain from attempting to plug in your vehicle via 13amp plugs, through windows or doors of your accommodation.

Is there room to park my camper van or motor home

Unfortunately not.

Hotel Room Facilities

Do you have hair dryers?

Yes, each room has a hair dryer.

Do you have an iron and ironing board?

Yes, each room has an iron and ironing board.

Do you have Tea & Coffee making facilities in the room?

Yes, each room has these facilities with Tea, Coffee, Decaf Coffee and fresh milk provided. Oat milk and additional Tea & Coffee can be purchased from the bistro.

Do you service rooms daily?

Yes, each room is serviced daily.

Self Catered Facilities

Do you provide towels and bedding?

Yes all of our accommodation is fully equipped with bedding, and a bath sheet, hand towel and flannel per person.

 Do you have hair dryers?

Yes, each accommodation has a hair dryer.

Do you have an iron and ironing board?

Yes, there is an iron and ironing board in each of the cottages, unfortunately not in the glamping pods, but available upon request.

Do you provide cooking essentials?

Each self catered accommodation has cooking oil, salt, pepper and a selection of tea, coffee, hot chocolate, decaf tea and coffee. There is also a small bottle of milk to make yourself a brew when you arrive!

Do you provide any other essentials?

Yes, in each self catered accommodation we provide a spare toilet roll in each bathroom, a spare bin liner, washing up liquid, kitchen roll, tea towels and an oven mitt.

Do the properties get serviced?

The properties do not get serviced during your stay, unless you book for more than 1 week.

Group Bookings

Can we book the hotel for Exclusive Use hire?

Unfortunately not, we don't take exclusive use bookings.

Can I book multiple accommodation for a family/friends group?

Unfortunately not, we only take bookings for up to 3 rooms or self catered properties. We find that larger groups tend to dominate the farm and is not fair on our other guests. If you are looking to combine a booking in the hotel and one of the properties please contact us directly.

Checking In and Out

Can we check in prior to 3pm or check out later than 10am?

Unfortunately not. The time between checkout at 10am and check in at 3pm is spent servicing the rooms.

Do you have a front desk 24hrs per day?

Yes, staff are onsite and available 24 hours per day in case of an emergency. Our office is open between 8am-7pm every day, or you can find someone in the bistro between 3pm-10.30pm.

Children

Is the Yan child friendly?

Yes, of course. Each room type can be tailored to suit your family needs. We have the Hauck Travel Cot Set Sleep N Play Center at a £10 additional charge, which is suitable for the deluxe rooms and the cottages. The new-born bassinet is suitable for your baby to sleep on a higher level with easy access; the bassinet can be easily removed and the cot can be used depending on the needs of your child. The Byre and the glamping pods are unfortunately not the right size to cater to any children. Babies (not yet walking at the time of stay) are free of charge and there is plenty of room for a travel cot, if needed, in The Smithy.Children are also of course welcome in the bistro, we have high chairs available and a nourishing kids menu.  

Drying Room

Do you have a drying room?

Yes – Boots and wet clothing can be dried overnight. It is adjacent to our biomass boiler room and it is heated.

Bikes

Do you have a secure bike store?

Yes we do and it is heated.

Do you have washing facilities to wash my bike down

Yes – a hose pipe is just outside the bike store.

Can I take my bike into my room, pod or cottage?

No - to prevent damage to the accommodation we do not allow bikes inside. 

Dogs

Can we bring our dog?

Yes, by all means. Please book one of our pet friendly accommodations when booking. Please note that dogs must be on a lead at all times within the public areas of the hotel, in the bistro and around the farm.

Can I bring more than one dog?

Unfortunately not. We only allow one dog per accommodation.

Can I take my dog into the bistro?

Yes you can, as long as it is on a lead and under control at all times.

Do you provide towels to dry my wet dog?

Yes, we do.

Things to do

Do you have any information on things to do in the area?

Yes we do and we are also on hand to help with any suggestions.

Can we walk from the door?

Yes, there are plenty of walks straight from the door i.e. Fairfield, Helvellyn, Helm Crag, etc.

Do you have walking routes/maps we can borrow?

Yes, we have plenty of these and we can also advise on routes.

Disabled Access

Is there disabled access to the hotel?

Unfortunately, due to the nature of our property we do not have accessible accommodations. Please contact us directly if you have any questions regarding this. Here is a link to our farm access statement.

Can I buy Broadrayne Farm chicken and duck eggs?

Yes you can. Just ask one of us and we can sort some out for you.

What happens if we need to cancel?

Can I use your commercial kitchen to cook my own food?

Can I order a cup of tea in your open Bistro and then start to make my own sandwiches, with the food I have just brought with me in a cooler box?

Can I bring a small fridge into my room to keep my own food and drinks cool?

Can I bring my friends, who are non-residents, into the residents only lounge and have a party?

Can I sneak an extra person into my room without you knowing?

Can I bring both my children with me and allow them to sleep in one bed and only pay for one of them?

Can I book a non-dog friendly room and bring my dog?

Can I bring my cat?

Do you have a field I can graze my pony in?

Can I bring dogs with me but let them sleep in the car?

Can I let my dog sleep on the bed or the settee, particularly on the nice National Trust bed throws you have?

Can I keep my bike in my bedroom?

After I check out of the hotel can I come back later in the day to use a shower?

Can I sit on your nice patio area and consume my own food and drink?
