On Saturday 3 July 2027, Stage 2 of the Tour de France Grand Départ will race from Keswick to Liverpool, heading south through the Lake District via Thirlmere, Grasmere, Rydal Water and Windermere.
Which means the world’s biggest bike race is coming straight past Broadrayne Farm.
Not near us.
Not “a short drive away”.
Not “somewhere in the Lakes”.
Right past the farm.
So yes, we are making a proper weekend of it.
Before The Yan, we spent years living and working in the French Alps, running chalets, feeding hungry skiers and falling a little bit in love with proper mountain hospitality.
We were lucky enough to witness a fair few French mountain stages over the years too, watching whole villages turn yellow, the roads fill up, and the atmosphere build for hours before the riders appeared in a blur. It is one of those sporting moments that gets right under your skin.
So to have even a little piece of that energy coming through Grasmere, past the farm we now call home, feels pretty special.
We’re embracing our chalet style influences for the weekend. Think raclette cheese doing exactly what raclette cheese was born to do, golden potatoes, big ski slope salads, Magnums of French wine, good bread, generous plates and that brilliant mountain feeling of coming in from a big day outside to something properly warm and delicious.
This is not a vague yellow napkin and a nod to France situation.
This is The Yan, Tour weekend style.
For anyone looking for Tour de France 2027 accommodation in the Lake District, we are in a fairly ridiculous spot.
The Yan is a family-run bistro with beds at Broadrayne Farm, just outside Grasmere, set right on the Stage 2 route as it travels south through the Lakes.
Book your stay, arrive on Friday, park up and let us do the hard bit.
No trying to battle through race-day road closures.
No driving around looking for somewhere to eat.
No sad car picnic.
No fighting your way back through the valley when everyone else has had the same idea.
No crazy expensive parking in a distant field and trudging to get a look in.
Just a proper Lake District base, a cracking dinner, breakfast sorted, race-day food ready, and the Tour de France coming past the farm.
Our Tour weekend 2027 stays are two-night Dinner, Bed and Breakfast packages, available across our hotel bedrooms, The Lookouts (glamping) and heritage self-catering cottages.
Your stay includes:
Arrival from Friday 2 July 2027
Race day on Saturday 3 July 2027
Departure on Sunday 4 July 2027
Two nights’ accommodation
Two hearty breakfasts with your barista coffee, teas and juices
Three-course dinner each evening, of your choosing from the menu
Tour-inspired French mountain food
Race-day picnic with a bottle of something French to celebrate
Planned front-field viewing for guests, subject to final event guidance
Secure coded dry bike storage
Bike wash and basic repair kit
Walks and rides straight from the door
Free parking
Road closure and guest access details will be confirmed once the official event plans are released, but with the Tour coming along the A591, this is absolutely a weekend to arrive, settle in and stay put.
Stage 2 of the Tour de France will leave Keswick before travelling south through the Lake District and onwards to Liverpool.
We’ll share confirmed timings as soon as they are released, but our plan is simple: feed you well, send you out with something delicious, and give staying guests the chance to soak up a once-in-a-generation sporting moment from one of the most beautiful valleys in the country.
We’re planning a managed front-field viewing option for staying guests, subject to official safety and access guidance.
Fancy heading higher? We’ll have packed picnic options ready for those who want to hike up, find a fellside view and watch the Lake District turn yellow from above.
Cowbells optional. Dramatic French roadside energy encouraged.
